Barolos and Barberescos are both produced from the Nebbiolo grape from vineyards in Northwest Italy and barrel aged for 3 to 5 (Riserva) years. These wines have the ability to continue to bottle age 50+ years gracefully reaching the point of drinking bliss as they shed the massive tannins characteristic of the varietal.

Unlike the modern Barolos and Babarescos these older vintages are classic expressions of Nebbiolo and are deeply concentrated full body wines that have a wide range of complex and exotic aromas from roses and tar to chocolate, dried fruit, eucalyptus, leather, liquorice, mint, mulberries, plum, spice, strawberries, tobacco, white truffles as well as dried and fresh herbs. Often compared to the great wines of Burgundy they are not opaque like Bordeaux claret but exhibit lighter garnet and ruby colours in their youth that turn to brick and orange hues as they age.
